Our Mission:
Since 1981, the Ivy Educational and Charitable Foundation of Houston, Inc. (IEACF)
has offered hope and encouragement to hundreds of individuals in the Greater
Houston Metropolitan Area. The public, non-profit, tax-exempt corporation has
awarded scholarships for educational advancement, as well as, supports the
community at large through charitable giving for those in need. The primary
mission of The Ivy Educational and Charitable Foundation of Houston, Inc. is to
support the community through financial, educational, volunteer and
collaborative efforts. It is committed to encouraging and enabling youth and
families to reach their full potential and achieve success. Additionally, the IEACF administers programs that empower, enable and educate individuals to
elevate the quality of their lives.
History:
The Ivy
Educational and Charitable Foundation of Houston, Inc. is a private, non-profit,
tax-exempt corporation that was established in April 1981. The organization was
chartered by the State of Texas in June 1982, and was classified by the Internal
Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) organizations. The IEACF was established to:
(1) distribute funds for charitable, educational and scientific projects,
including the making of contributions to organizations that qualify as exempt
under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code; and (2) to provide direct and indirect
financial assistance to deserving high school graduating seniors and college
students so that they may pursue further training. One of the goals of the IEACF has been to establish a $100,000 Permanent Endowment Fund. The hard work
and dedication of the foundation's members, it has made significant progress
toward accomplishing this goal. The first scholarship was awarded in 1981. Since
that time, the IEACF has awarded over $300,000 in scholarships for educational
advancement, as well as charitable giving for those in need.
The IEACF has also made sizeable contributions to such organizations as the American
Red Cross, The College Fund, Dress for Success, NAACP (ACT-SO), Houston Area
Urban League Educational Foundation, March of Dimes, Susan G. Komen Breast
Cancer Foundation, Tavis B. Smiley Educational Foundation, Blue Triangle
Multi-Service Center, Ensemble Theater, Sandra Organ Dance Troupe, the Community
Artists' Collective Foundation and numerous other community projects.
The year
of 2010 marks the 29th
anniversary of the Ivy Educational and Charitable Foundation of Houston, Inc.
Retrospectively, we feel a great sense of accomplishment and look forward to
continuing our endeavors on behalf of future generations.
